Reflecting on the first show they held in February, WeCre8te Afrika has shown significant growth not just as a brand but the individual growth of the artists has been too visible to ignore. They started out as artists who wanted a voice to share their magic to the world but now they seem to be shaking the poetry scenes with their unwavering talent. We have heard of MaZweli touring in German and Poet Lethu in Denmark, all this, a testament to their talent, hard work and dedication. Not only that but their mentor, SoxThePoet has also been spotted numerous times in some of the Zambian stages and word says he was also spotted at the Jinja Festival in Uganda.
WeCre8te must have seen it sooner that they are bound to grow as a collective than individuals. They used that fact to their own advantage and formed a pact that’s stronger now than ever. It was of course not an easy journey because there were some months during the winter season where they had to perform for less than ten people. That did not however demotivate them because they knew the show goes on irregardless of people showing up or not. Today they stand to be the same collective that can pull crowds of between fifty to one hundred and fifty people and make sure all those people leave to their homes satisfied by the acts.
They went on to close the year with a stellar performance that fused poetry with music and dance. They collaborated with Miss Dimples, Mirae, The No Name Dance Crew and Asante Mo. They went on to present their collective piece which was a beautiful sight and the crowd was left in awe as to how poets can also integrate dance to their poetry. To prove that they sure do know what they are doing in the industry, Sisa and Poet Lethu went on to scoop awards at the recently held Pumula Royal Arts and Community Awards (PRACA), Letty has also been buzzing the newspapers and radio stations the past months.
All this that they managed to pull out throughout the year, it is owed to their hard work and also the people that have been there rendering their support and services. The resident guitarist and violinist Reilo Viekk and Emmar (respectively), Alliance Francaise de Bulawayo, Barbs the Emotional Alchemist, Mayibongwe Ndlovu, Yellow World, Negus Lightning, Passmore Ps Moyo, Ble Mutandwa, Mthokozisi Mabhena and the audience that has been consistent since the very first day. Their growth is owed to all these people and more who have shown love and support because it really does take a village. As they end the year on a happy note, they promise more that is yet to come in 2025.
