Maybe Delilah did love Samson,
Not for his strength, but for the man undone,
The one who sang softly in the crook of her arm,
Whispered of freedom, yet carried alarm.
Maybe she saw more than his victories,
A soul tangled in war’s miseries.
She dreamt of nights unbroken, still,
No thunder of battle, no blood to spill.
Maybe the scissors were lovers’ plea,
A desperate wish for what could be.
To hold him close, to stop the fight,
To claim him wholly through the night.
Maybe it wasn’t betrayal’s blade,
But a fragile hope her hands conveyed.
A homeland spared, a heart laid bare,
A fairytale spun in stolen air.
Maybe it’s this:
Moonlit trysts and tangled wrists,
Lips on lips where fate insists,
Twists in tales, her love persists,
Eclipsed by battles he resists.
Maybe the cut was sharp and clean,
An act of love, not of the obscene.
To tame the beast, to calm the flame,
To rewrite fate in her homeland’s name.
Maybe Delilah and Samson yearned,
For a love that wasn’t bruised or burned.
A story written not in stone,
But in soft whispers, all their own.
Maybe the world will never know,
What tethered them beneath love’s glow.
But maybe Delilah did love Samson,
And in her heart, he was never gone.
